From Futbol to Football, what are the Soccer Guys betting on in the Super Bowl

Over here on the Soccer pod we love to bet on soccer, so why not take our passion for losing money over to the most bet upon sporting event in the World: The Super Bowl. I plan on dropping around 100 dollars on just props for the big game so this will be a really fun blog for me. But, I will only be dropping a couple of my bets in here, as the rest of the pod will be dropping some of their bets as well. We each will be highlighting just a couple of the bets we will be placing this weekend.

Joey

  1. Opening kickoff touchback or not: Not a touchback +110

This is my absolute lock of the day… 26 of the last 28 Super Bowls have had opening kickoffs not be touchbacks, so the fact that you can get these odds is insane. Hammer it.

  2. Joe Mixon to score the first TD & Cam Akers to score the second TD OR Cam Akers to score the first TD & Joe Mixon to score the second TD: was +6000, now +4400

This is a longshot, but one that is not as unreasonable as the odds might suggest… This could end right away or result in a really fun time rooting for the second TD.

  1. Coin Toss Result: Tails -105

    Tails never fails.

For those of you who were fans of the Long Balls podcast you’ll remember the Beards Best Bets. Only the betting king himself, Joey, could convince me to come out of retirement to give a few more picks to the public, even if its in a sport I know significantly less about. That’s why I’ve delved deep into the props, and incorporated one of my favorite golf events of the year, the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

  1. First coach to challenge: LA Rams -120

    • I have no logical reason to suggest Sean McVay will through the first challenge, I just have a gut feeling that he’ll be aggressive with it.

  2. Joe Mixon rushing yards or Jon Rahm first round score at the WM Phoenix Open: Joe Mixon rushing yards +105

    • Jon Rahm is the best golfer on the planet and I dont see him shooting over par at a relatively scorable course in TPC Scottsdale. Par is 71 and Joe Mixon can get over that but realistically I see Rahm shooting something more around 67, making it more comfortable for Mixon.

  3. Jordan Spieth first round birdies at the WM Phoenix Open or Matthew Stafford rushing yards: Matthew Stafford rushing yards -110

    • Jordan Spieth is my guy, and after coming off a second place finish at Pebble Beach last week he will perform well again here in Arizon, where he finished T4 last season. The problem is him getting off to a hot start, and even if he has 6 birdies I think Stafford will surpass those numbers in rushing yards.

Ryan

  1. More points scored in first half or second half plus OT: Second Half plus OT -145

Second half Bengals meets fourth quarter Stafford. Two teams who have regularly scored late in games coupled with the second half having more points in 5 of the last six Super Bowls makes this bet seemingly free money.

  2. Opening kickoff touchback or not: Not a touchback +130

26 of the last 28 openings kickoffs were not touchbacks, and both kickers were 15th or lower in touchback percentage this season. Looks like this trend will continue.

  3. Cooper Kupp receptions and yards: Over

Cooper Kupp is a menace who will terrorize the Bengals defense. The YAC leader of this season is Stafford’s security blanket and regularly turns standard receptions into large gains. Barring a Rams blowout or injury to Stafford or Kupp this should hit.
